I was in London last weekend and saw this amazing piece at the Saatchi Gallery. Its by Ximena Garrido-Lecca and is a huge repoduction of a burial wall like you would see in Peru, where graves are positioned vertically. Each of the niches is a shrine to a person and a portrait of what they were like, with lots of objects and photographs and flowers to accompany them into the afterlife. It shows the spirit of the Peruvian culture by celebrating the dead, which is so different to the reserved cemetaries here. Wouldn't it be lovely if British graves looked more like this.
